Austin Block + Hardscape manufactures and supplies concrete masonry and hardscape products used in commercial, hospitality, institutional, and industrial construction. Working with architects, contractors, and developers, the company supports projects where material performance, availability, and specification are critical.

Concrete masonry is typically positioned as a functional material rather than a design-driven one. This perception flattens differentiation and limits how it is considered in architectural applications. At the same time, Austin Block + Hardscape was introducing a new paver product line that had not previously been marketed, requiring a clear position within the business and the broader category.

The challenge was to shift perception while providing clearer guidance on how materials could be specified and used, and to integrate the new hardscape offering into a more defined and cohesive product strategy.

I was retained to define how Austin Block + Hardscape’s product offering was positioned and communicated, aligning concrete masonry and hardscape products into a more cohesive system while supporting the launch of a new paver line.

approach

The focus was on repositioning concrete masonry as a material with both functional and architectural value, while introducing pavers as a complementary product line within a broader system. Rather than treating products as separate offerings, the goal was to create a more cohesive structure that clarified how materials could be used and specified.

This involved organizing products around application, performance, and design intent, aligning messaging and visuals to support that structure. Digital and marketing materials were developed to reinforce this approach, making it easier for architects, contractors, and developers to understand how products could work together across different project types.

outcome

The result was a clearer and more cohesive presentation of Austin Block + Hardscape’s product offering, improving how materials are understood, specified, and used across project types. Concrete masonry was positioned with greater architectural relevance, while the new paver line was integrated into a unified system.

This created a more consistent experience across digital and marketing channels, supporting how architects, contractors, and developers evaluate and select materials. Working closely with sales and executive leadership, these efforts contributed to a doubling of revenue and a fifty percent expansion in production capabilities driven by increased product demand.
